Pet Accidents and Clumsy Family and Friends ... Worry No More!

As a busy mom of twin daughters and a puppy too, I am always looking for better ways to keep our home environment clean and healthy for everyone. For those of you who struggle with pet accidents and clumsy family and friends, you know how quickly your prized rugs can become a target for the toughest stains including pet urine, red wine and even grape juice. I am happy to share with you my secret for keeping your rugs as clean and spotless as the day they first graced your floors. "Greening The Cleaning - All Purpose Cleaner" is the only product I will use. Everything else I've tried has left deeper stains or pulled the color from my rugs. The best part in addition to clean floors is knowing that my family is not exposed to any harsh chemicals or toxins that inhibit health. To clean your rugs, simple dampen the stained area, plus a small area around it, with Greening The Cleaning All Purpose Cleaner. Next, sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda (or more if a larger spot) on top. Let it sit for a 10-15 minutes until the baking soda crumbles on top. This process loosens the dirt and fluids which become absorbed into the baking soda. Use a wet/dry vacuum to clean rest. (A regular home vacuum is not recommended because the rotating brush underneath may press dirt back into your carpet.) This process has worked like a charm in our home!

A "Greening The Cleaning Thumb"

This story is too funny not share! My younger daughter loves to help around the house, especially when it comes to watering the plants and flowers. This past holiday season, she volunteered to water the poinsettias in the living room. To my surprise, her plants are the only ones that are still alive and thriving with bright red color. Her secret .... She shared with me that she's been spraying her plants with Greening The Cleaning - All Purpose Cleaner! Seriously! We've decide since she has a 'Greening The Cleaning Thumb' that she can care for our plants from now on!

We started using "Greening The Cleaning" products soon after they were available to purchase, first on-line and now from Linens & Things. We tell people about them and how great they are.

The reason I am writing this e-mail is because I must tell you how GTC all-purpose cleaner saved us a lot of time and money.

We were away for over two weeks and came home to a very unpleasant situation. We pulled into the garage and this terrible smell greeted us. When we got out of the car I immediately realized the freezer was not working. While we were gone the circuit breaker that our freezer is plugged into tripped. There wasn't much meat in it but those few pounds were enough to cause a problem. We emptied the contents of the freezer into garbage bags and my husband pushed the freezer to the edge of the garage and hosed it out. Our thoughts were that we would have to buy a new freezer because of the odor that spoiled meat leaves. I knew I had to try to get the odor out. Because I rely on GTC for my cleaning I had to use it for this emergency. So, I got one of my trusty bottles of GTC and sprayed and sprayed the inside of the freezer. I let it set for about 15 minutes and my husband hosed it out again. I sprayed some more and let it set while we unpacked the car. Then I simply dried the inside of the freezer with paper towels. The odor was almost gone! The freezer was pushed back in place and plugged in. I put baking soda on two large plates and placed them in the freezer and closed the door. Two days later the freezer was odor free and ready to be restocked.

I accidently found a another way to use "Greening the Cleaning" product. I dropped a bit of salad dressing on my sweater while in the process of my daily wipe-up of my kithchen with this product--sprayed a drop of "greening" on the spot , rubbed a bit and it disappeared.

I have Citrus Sage All Purpose Cleaner and want to tell you that I just cleaned the top of my toaster over (white enamel) that I left a bag of bread on top of when the toaster was on and the ink embedded on top. I have scrubbed this many times and couldn't get it off and just did again but wanted to clean the glass so I sprayed the glass and the top of the toaster and wiped! WELL! The ink from the bread bag came off simply by wiping - NO SCRUBBING!!! THANK YOU!!! :)

Just thought I would drop you a note. Started using your products in our resturant over a month ago. They are incredible. There is no reason everyone should not be using this "stuff". The place smells clean, is clean and no after burning smells, no choking no coughing no feeling over taken by fumes. Our nasal passages are not burning, don't know what else to say. We need more press and more stories about people and businessed using this stuff. We need Imus back on the air it is because of him that we use it. I have a great testimonial I wish to share.
My daughter and son-in-law are military - Navy. My son-in-law is currently stationed in Newport, Rhode Island and in charge of the Northeast Navy Show Band. The kids just purchased a home in the Portsmouth area of Rhode Island. Having three (3) daughters and expecting Baby Girl Number 4, I sent them your book along with bottles of your cleaning products. I flew in to clean the "not new" home they purchased that was "home" to 3 dogs, 2 cats and smokers!!! We went to town removing all carpets, tile floors, and contracted a roofer and window replacement for this home that the previous owners were, in my opinion, on the bottom of the pile when it came to cleaning.

Deirdre, with the aid of your book, "Green This" we were able to clean everything the non-toxic way from drains to walls to kitchen cabinets and wood trim. Your All-Purpose cleaner was a lifesaver in removing the grease and what I would term "filth" from the wooden kitchen cabinets. I have never used anything like it and the bonus is that the stores in the Portsmouth, RI area carry it! So, my granddaughters can continue living in a non-toxic home! I also used the All-Purpose Cleaner to clean the bathtubs and it worked great! I have not experienced anything it didn't clean!

My deepest appreciation to you, Deirdre, for your commitment to our children's health and await your book on non-toxic child-raising next year. Since I work in Environmental Compliance within county government in the State of Maryland, I understand many aspects of air quality and toxins, etc.

In addition, I truly miss Don's show. I got ready for work every morning listening "Imus In The Morning" and the gang. The current show does not hold a candle to the wit, humor, and guests that Don built over his 30+ years in radio, not to mention what he did for Vets with the Intrepid in Texas without any federal monies!

We went green last year at this time. It was a fairly smooth transition, since we have always talked, in this school, about caring for the earth and making decisions based on the benefits to our children.

At the same time, some of our teachers were skeptics because things didn’t “smell clean” – they missed that strong bleachy smell that we have long associated with being clean! It was only after “seeing is believing” – they used it in their classrooms – that they were converted. When we were having the conversations, they were very hesitant, since previous attempts at “greening” had involved products that simply didn’t work!

As a Montessori school, one of the principles we believe in is that children can and should help in aspects of everyday life if and when they are capable, and so the GTC products were a natural fit for us – they are so safe that the children can wipe up their own messes, clean their tables, etc. We have small kid-sized spray bottles in all of our classrooms and the children participate in the cleaning, and we know that they are safe while doing so!

We have no complaints about the GTC products or our Greening decision. I’d encourage you to reach out to the Imus Center, even if just to get on their mailing lists. They have great newsletters that are sent via email with tons of information in them.

Also, if you’d like to “experiment”, I personally recommend the commercially available GTC products. I can get them in my local Shop-Rite, but I know they are available in other stores and on the web too, and I use them in my home with my four children. As I understand it, the only difference between what you buy in Shop-Rite and what you get from the Imus Center (the industrial line) is that the industrial line has colored liquids (the commercial lines are completely clear) for ease of use – cleaning crews can quickly discriminate one product from another. Otherwise, the products are the same!

My name is Karen A. and this is the first time in my life I have ever written to anyone concerning a product. I recently bought a puppy and cleaned her cage with a Lysol wipe after she messed. On my way out the door, I absentmindedly left the dirty wipe in a plastic bag on top of her cage. She pulled the bag through and chewed up the wipe. When I returned home, I saw what she had done and panicked. She started vomiting and had dysentery. I rushed her to the vet and thankfully, she recovered completely. I then started searching for a cleaning product that was non toxic, but also did a good job cleaning. I found Greening the Cleaning in the supermarket, read the label and bought it. I have used nothing else since, I absolutely love it. Besides being safe for my messy puppy and around my children, it does a great job on my stainless steel sink, outdoor furniture, shower and tub, etc. I purposely put it to the test over and over, never being disappointed. I just bought Greening your Cleaning last week and I am absolutely in love with it! My mom died from cancer a year ago and now I have a two month old baby for whose health I am, of course, very concerned. The book has been wonderful. Last weekend I went through our house and put everything I could find that contained petroleum into a big Sterilite box and labeled it the "cancer box." I couldn't believe how much I found; besides the cleaning products there were lotions, "sea salt" scrubs, candles, and almost all of my baby products! I was appalled! Now, I love things to be clean, but I hate to clean because of the burning in my throat and the terrible smells of products...especially dusting products with awful fragrances that they call "fresh meadow" or something like that...it smells nothing like a fresh meadow!! I usually rush right through dusting (if I do it at all) and skip the tops of the window frames, etc. I do a lot of shopping at my local health food stores, but rarely buy the natural cleaning products because of the expense. So, I was thrilled when your book outlined how to clean with normal household products that cost next to nothing. Yesterday I "green-cleaned" our living room using vinegar, baking soda, and some jasmine essential oil that I had. I started with the usual: bookshelves, TV stand, etc., but I enjoyed it so much that I ended up moving my furniture, cleaning the trim around the floor and the windows, and even washing the windows! I am just thrilled at how well it all worked, and with no burning throat or headache; it (and I) actually smelled good! The best part of all, though, was that when my baby woke up from his nap I could just go right in and pick him up without worrying about the chemicals on my skin and clothes. I so enjoyed cleaning the living room that today I think I'll tackle the bathroom! Thank you for giving me a way to clean that not only works, but is affordable and complements my mindful lifestyle!

Ms. Imus,

My son is 16 and a sophomore in high school. He takes Honors Biology, and for his science fair project he compared Lysol cleaner to Greening the Cleaning. He grew bacteria from surfaces such as the cafeteria tables, one cleaned with your cleaner, one with Lysol.

The Greening the Cleaning was better in killing bacteria, was cheaper, and of course, is not toxic.

He won 1st place, not just for his grade but for the whole school. He is now writing a proposal for the school to switch to your cleaner. He has stopped complaining about his father making him listen to Imus on the drive to school each morning.

What a marvelous product you have brought to us. My order of 4 bottles arrived this week and I have given one to a friend so she can have the second cleanest house in town!

A couple of examples of what I have cleaned in addition to counter tops, etc. is a delicate piece of fabric that I had sprayed Shout on in hopes of getting out some mysterious spots. The Shout was left on overnight and the spots were still there. Greening and Cleaning was sprayed on and the spots disappeared before my eyes. Amazing. I also have some white Rubbermaid sink pads that have gotten a bit discolored with use and when I sprayed G & C on it they are now as good as new.

Thank you for bringing this product to us and for all of the marvelous things you and Don do for mankind. If I were close to your center I would volunteer my time. I will pass the word on to my friends.

The Glass Cleaner and the All Purpose Cleaner are both GREAT!!!!!!!

They clean better than anything I have ever used. And they won't kill my husband, nor me nor our little Sheltie dogs. I just feel great knowing that I am not using poisons in our home anymore to clean with. I will be happy when I can get all the products that the Hospital is using. I would especially like a safe laundry detergent I am so impressed with Mrs. Imus.

My husband and I just live for the days that she and precious little Wyatt are on the Imus program. We listen to Imus every morning and we just love him---mainly because he says what he believes and does not hold back. In this day and age that is a GREAT THING!!!!!!!!!! Imus and his wife are such loving and giving people---what a great blessing they are to the planet earth. We love to hear about Wyatt and Virgil. My husband is 83 and I am 65. We live in Central Texas. Imus comes on at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday and we wake up at 5 a.m. and start our day with IMUS IN THE MORNING. We were SO MAD WHEN THE STUPID OLYMPICS took IMUS' place.

I just want to let you know how impressed I was with both greening the cleaning products! I've thrown away more "green" cleaning products that just didn't work, so I put yours to the ultimate test: my all-white kitchen and my all glass bathroom. Dear Imus,

My husband and I recently moved and purchased a 10 year old house with white, Formica counter tops in the kitchen. The counter tops stain easily and I have been trying to find a product that would remove them without being harmful for our 3 pets. I searched the Internet and decided the safest was white vinegar and water, which helps but not completely.

When you started talking about Deirdre's green products on your TV show and the institutions that use them, I was sold and ordered 3 sets just to make sure I had a back up supply in case you started running out. I am so glad I did. The product is everything you said it was. It removed the stains on the counter tops and made the them the whitest I ever saw. Thanks for making the products available on the web.

I hope Deirdre and her colleagues are working on a laundry product because I suspect that the ones now on the market are not the safe for us especially children.

Mrs. Imus,

Today I received my all purpose cleaner as well as the glass cleaner ....Since I am married to a lazy Kentucky women, I am the one that does the cleaning.
I was anxious to try the window cleaner on our porch that has plexiglass for the winter...I was told not to use regular window cleaner for it would scratch .

The cleaner not only made the glass look new again, it did not scratch it.

Next I called my daughter and told her I wanted her to try the cleaner....my grandson has asthma bad and when she cleans he has a real hard time breathing.....We could not believe his reaction to your cleaner......NONE.....no reaction and it cleaned better than her own products. So this is one happy grand father that has made things a little better for the grand children...

My wife is allergic to darn near everything, so when you advertised this product, I couldn't order it fast enough. I've got to sit down and thank you for an awesome cleaner and a wonderful product.

Greeninig the Cleaning will replace everything we currently use. No more ammonia smell or carcinogenic cleaners in our home, nor will there be in my place of work. What you are doing in Ribera is incredible, the fact that you do it from your heart with no financial gain is a testiment to your loving and caring generosity We live just northwest of Santa Fe and are in the beginning stages of trying to coordinate a motorcycle rally/ fundraiser to benefit the Imus Ranch and your "kids".
